Hello!
I'm trying to figure out how taxable items work in foodclub. I see that there is a field called "taxed", but when I import it into the database it doesn't seem to show up anywhere. We need to be able to add tax onto the invoices for each person when taxable items are purchased. Any ideas out there?

The way you add (sales) tax to items is by checking the "Apply tax" checkbox for the item, in
Invoice processing.
The "taxed" column in product databases is not currently used anywhere. If you are curious about what/where/how a column is used, this is the authoritative document to check:
http://foodclub.org/wiki/Foodclub:Docum ... ase_fieldsThe "taxed" column
should probably be used as the default state of the "Apply tax" checkboxes, on the first load of
Invoice processing before invoices have been generated. But since nobody has ever requested it, it hasn't been done and the taxed column is just sitting there unused.

1. So to make sure I understand this, the person who is responsible for complete the group's order would be the one who adds sales tax to each applicable item on the invoice at that time?
2. Any chance of getting that database field to work the way (I think) it was intended?

1. Yes, by checking the "Apply tax" checkbox for that item on Invoice processing.
2. Yes, it will probably be an easy change to simply make these "Apply tax" checkboxes default to ON when the "taxed" column is true for that item in the database. In fact, it will be so easy that will probably go out in the next release. It's just nobody had requested it before, but now it will be done.

I believe I understand how this would work for dbs we create and maintain. I would like to get a little clarification on how this would work for dbs that are shared, and we can not modify.
Our club is using the shared Frontier database for frontier products. This would mean that we would need to go through and checkmark the items that should be taxed each time we go through the invoice processing. No tax information would be saved between order cycles is that right?
I understand how the taxes will be displayed and totaled in the member invoices. Is there an additional invoice or report that would have all the taxes that the club should pay? I suppose this would be by year, or even each ordering cycle would work.
We are looking into what it would take to charge and pay any applicable taxes. Any info would be appreciated.
