Its funny, but the hardest part about training users is getting them to remember their username and password.
If foodclub was integrated with a 3rd party authentication system then they could just use their Google ID or Facebook ID to log in.
Selfishly what I really want is integration with Joomla authentication, but don't know how many other clubs out there use Joomla. Probably not many.
Anyways, please reply back to this post if you are a club looking for the same feature.

Other clubs feel free to comment, but I just wanted to recommend having the users who forget their password to try their favorite browser's "password keeper" feature. I know Firefox will ask if you want it to remember your username and password for each site you login to. I think Safari/Chrome/MSIE have a similar feature.

Lastpass (I just have the free version) has been extremely helpful in keeping logins organized for me across multiple machines.

I like foodclub because it is not linked to Facebook or Google. Both Facebook and Google have backdoors for NSA, etc. and are involved in all sorts of tracking. The more I learn about this issue, the harder I try to avoid both Facebook and Google.

As for Lastpass, you are storing all your passwords in the "cloud". Who knows what goes on in the cloud, plus all someone has to do is hack Lastpass, and they have everything. My computer family recommends I store my passwords on my computer in an encrypted file, plus encrypt my hard drive.

Yes, and I can assure you, Foodclub has absolutely no connection/backdoor with the NSA, and never will.

I think the NSA uses some provision of the Patriot Act to compel US-based internet companies to comply with their wiretapping system (Prism, etc). Foodclub is not a US-based company, because it's not a company at all. If it ever becomes a company, it will be based in a different country for this reason.

Tools like Lastpass have their place. But remember that many users of a food cooperative are normal Janes and Joes who are NOT computer savvy. They just need the system to work. They don't want to load additional software, visit another website to setup password administration, or remember multiple usernames/passwords.

I wanted to "bump" this discussion as it is still a problem for me.

The Facebook api has been updated quite a bit to 2.0. Instead of Facebook Connect, it is now called "Facebook Login". There is NO WAY for Facebook to gain access to Foodclub's data through this API. Instead, Foodclub is accessing Facebook to see if the user is already logged in. That's it.

In addition, using a Facebook login would be TOTALLY OPTIONAL for foodclub users. You could still log in the normal way.

I am dropping my request for Google integration. 95% of my members use Facebook, so integration with just Facebook's login would be just fine.
