Mediawiki integration

Postby maburrows (deleted) » Mon Jun 04, 2012 6:44 am

I activated the Mediawiki integration for our group but I can not log in. It has been at least 12 hours since I activated it. The namespace is NaturalFamilyBuyingClub.

I am trying to log in with my food club username and password. Is this correct?

No, you should not need to login. Just log out of Foodclub and log back in. You get automatically logged into Mediawiki everytime you login to Foodclub (as do all members of your club).

But if you were already logged in when you enabled MW integration, then your current session does not have the cookies set, so you need to logout and back in.

Thank you, that worked. Now I am unable to edit the pages. I am an admin in our food club site, but apparently not in the wiki. Let me know what I need to do.

In Mediawiki, there are no admin users: both admin and normal user in Foodclub get transferred over to Mediawiki into a single group, which has edit privileges to your MW namespace. Meaning that all users (both admin and non) should be able to edit pages in your namespace. Other users not in your club cannot even see your wiki pages though.

So if you are having trouble editing, can you attach a screenshot?

The first thing you will need to do is create a page, before you can edit it. So use the "create" tab at the top first, if you haven't already tried that.

I unfortunately do not see a create page tab or anything that would let me create a page. There is a bit of text that includes a link for "edit this page". When I click on that it tells me I do not have permission. I have attached two screenshots. Thank you for your help.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Sorry for the delay responding to this.

Have you tried this again recently? From the screenshot, it looks like perhaps it's not letting you due to your Mediawiki integration having been recently enabled. i.e. there is a waiting period before users are flagged as "Autoconfirmed" and allowed to edit pages.

I thought this had been fixed a while back, but perhaps it has resurfaced.

If you can edit the wiki now, then that was the issue, and it needs to be fixed. If you still can't edit the wiki, then there is another bug that needs to be fixed. Either way, let me know.

Still unable to edit. Screens look the same as the screenshots I posted.

Heh, I didn't do anything. What this means is my original suspicion is confirmed: that there is a "delay" before new users get write access.

I will look into that for future users who try to use the wiki. (and take note if you're reading this topic a while after it was posted and have the same problem, the above is probably the reason why you cannot edit the wiki)

Confirmed that there was a 14 day waiting period from when new wiki users were created (such as when Mediawiki integration is first enabled) and when they were allowed to edit wiki pages.

I used the past tense in the above sentence because that 14 day waiting period is now disabled. From now on, newly created wiki users can edit pages immediately, so this entire support topic hopefully is no longer necessary.
