Custom 'Member Fee' text or at least 'Discount' text.

Have been trying to use a negative fee amount to apply a discount rather than a fee, which seems to work fine if you use it on the invoice Order Summary area, as this area lets you apply a whole discount across all users with a custom description for it.

But for the pre-set per user fees set in User Maintenance, if I enter a negative fee in there, say -0.1, then this will indeed give a discount but it labels it a fee, so it would be great if it could at least say 'Discount', or even better a custom text description for this 'negative fee'.

Also since some users would get different discounts, these would be set up in User Maintenance ahead of time, and simply generating the invoices would apply the right discount for each person with the correct labelling :-)

A non-essential, nice-to-have feature, but maybe (?) and easy one to implement?

Sorry for the long delay on this one. Saw it, then forgot about it. Going through old posts now, and yes this is a very easy change. I just changed it so if the member fee is negative, then the label will be "Member discount ..."; if positive, it stays as the current "Member fee ...".

Re: Custom 'Member Fee' $ per order

Postby Linda_Haddad » Mon Aug 11, 2014 2:58 pm

Further to this, I'm trying to figure out a way to do a fee that is a dollar amt, and would be automatic once input, (we do this for trial members) then once they are full members we charge a prepaid fee 2x's per year.

If we could do this in the user maint area that would be good, the fee is a flat fee per order, not per supplier (we have many) and not a percentage - so not sure that this would actually work... any other options that would be automated?

I had set up a "source" for this, then put in the applicable members as a "R", so if another option is not available, then I guess I'll go back to that.

There is no current way to add a flat fee with a user-based setting on User maintenance. Only percentage-based member fees can be set there. All flat fees must be set at the source, on Invoices.

For your purposes, you don't really need to isolate these users to a single source, you just need to manually add the fees to their Invoices. So they can order from any source, you just need to keep track of them when doing invoices. You could use the village-mode feature to keep track of who they are, (add them to a "new member" village) then just be sure to tack on the invoice fee to all users in that village.

Sorry there is no automated way to do this.
