Split favorites

Postby christiancoop » Tue Mar 26, 2013 8:22 am

Is there a particular reason we can't save a Favorite as a "Split Favorite"? So that when we add it to the current order it shows as a split request instead of a normal item?
This was a request made by a member last night.

No particular reason, other than it hasn't been added as a feature yet. Favorites only works in Order, not Splits. Adding to Splits has been on the to-do list for a while.

This would be nice. We often have members who are confused about why they can't save faves on splits. Another vote for this feature.

This would be almost essential I think for the way our group works - as almost everyone in our group would have split favourites and not full order favourites. Although we're not currently using foodclub for 'live' order processing yet (as we are still ironing out the process of getting supplier spreadsheets translated into foodclub database in a fast streamlined way), I hav e to admit that being able to have a 'standing order' of split favourites would be a very welcome addition. We have about 5 people each week with a standing order of items, all of which are actually items to be split requested rather than ordered in their own right.

So another vote from me too! :-)

Well a "standing order" of split items is not the same as split favorites. Split favorites would just allow users to have their same Favorites list that is on the Order page also on Splits page. (and add items from it to current splits)

A "standing order" of split items is actually more like "recurring splits," which is also on the to-do list. Recurring splits just hasn't been done yet because for most clubs, this would be used for produce items, e.g. "I want 6-8lb of bananas, and 4-6 avocados every order cycle." But the problem here is that produce items often don't keep the same item code - the item code for bananas and avocados change every order cycle. There are also usually several different case sizes and individual sizes of avocados and bananas in the produce vendors' databases.

So to implement this feature, it would require some fancy logic to actually find the ideal item to "recur" over to from one order cycle to the next, after the database updates and new items/prices become available. That is why it hasn't been done yet.
