The only problem I see with freezing the split would be when the second case is almost full and it is getting close to closing, you would welcome everyone to add to their order, including those that already placed their order. For the amount of times an earlier member unwittingly bumps a later order there are as many times an earlier member adds to their order and it actually helps the later ones because it fills the second case. When this has happened to us I usually take executive liberty and manually change the order in hopes of making it more equitable. I think either way it still has to be monitored and manually dealt with. I personally don't like the "equitable" setting, I find it hard to track.
On a similar topic. After The order closes and I have added my "extras for splits" (to fill the cases that were almost filled) and called in the order, It would be great if there was a way to minimize/hide/lock/freeze or block the cases that have already been filled, only leaving the ones that still have a few to fill. This way I can reopen the database and promote those cases that need filling. Since I am doing this after the order has been placed the potential for the members to screw up the cases by adding or changing their order is a little too great.
I use to keep the database closed and post the "need to sell" items on our yahoo group, everyone that wanted something would respond and "I" would add them manually to the database, but I am trying to reduce my time on this and have the members enter those final orders.
Would this help anyone else? or how do others handle these situations?
