New UI for maintaining private DB anyone?

Currently, the MySQL user interface is too complicated for my order administrators. All the SQL and DB features are just distracting and confusing. Instead,they have to email me spreadsheets and I import them in myself. This is becoming too much work for me with a growing number of local farmers.

What I really need is a simple UI within foodclub for adding, changing, and deleting items from the database that someone with almost no training can use.

You have a knack for pointing out things that have been on the to-do list for a long time (and still haven't been done).

Yes, a better UI for maintaining databases is on the to-do list, but it won't be as powerful as phpMyAdmin. It won't allow importing from spreadsheet/csv file. It will just be very similar to the product browse/search within Foodclub (Order, Splits pages), but have editable fields, and have access restrictions so only certain approved people are allowed to edit it.

It actually shouldn't be that hard to do - much easier than the global search / shopping interface in the last poll. So if lots of people say yes in the poll, it can probably be moved up and done fairly quickly.

I have one person that is really adapt with SQL and she loves doing it.
However, for all others it would be nice to have a UI.
Could it be both?

Yes, it would be really helpful to have a friendly UI for source admins to update their own items on a onsie-twosie basis. You mentioned editing existing entries, but would like to second christiancoop's add and delete as well.

I'd still use the mySql Admin interface to import spreadsheets of course.

Yes, the new, friendlier UI would also be able to add and delete, in addition to edit items. Maybe have 5 blank rows, so 5 items could be added at a time, and checkboxes next to each item in the item results, with a "delete selected" at the bottom.

Also, yes- the phpMyAdmin option is not going anywhere, so when the new UI is ready, it would just be another option. Advanced users could still use phpMyAdmin if they want.
